“Life After Sexual Harm: Journeys of Healing Through Restorative Justice”

Mackenzie Leclaire is a law student at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario, Canada. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in sociology and legal studies and a Master of Arts (MA) in sociology from the University of Waterloo. Mackenzie’s research, funded by the government of Canada, focuses on restorative justice and the social reintegration of people who have sexually offended. Her journey into restorative justice began in 2018 when she became a facilitator of a support group at Community Justice Initiatives, a restorative justice community organization in Kitchener, Ontario, for people who have sexually offended. Mackenzie is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and finds healing in supporting people who have caused sexual harm.
